The DTX550K is the most popular set from Yamaha’s popular DTX 500 series of electronic drums and offers robust features at a reasonable price.

Released in March of 2010 the Yamaha DTX550K provides a balance of realistic drum feel and affordability of electronic drum components.  Included in the DTX 550K set is the newly created 10-inch XP100SD DTX-PAD snare drum with a ball clamp that allows the pad angle to be adjusted.

Also included with the DTX 550 is a movable hi-hat model RHH135 and footsplash capable hi-hat stand model HS650A.  The very quiet 2-zone hi-hat pads provide separate sounds as well as open and closed capabilities.  Also included are a 13-inch crash and a 15 inch ride with 3-zone choke-capable cymbal pads.  The Yamaha DTX550K electronic drum set also features the durable and compact RS85A rack.

As the most popular electronic drum kit in the DTX 500 series and priced at around $1,600 the  DTX550K offers a lot of drum options for a judicious price.  Between the newly developed 10 inch snare to the precise 2-zone hi-hat, the DTX 550K offers realistic feeling electronic drums.  With a diverse array of sounds in the improved DTX 500 series module along with 50 presets and 20 custom sets, there are plenty of percussion options available.

With 63 internal practice songs and the ability to play any song with an AUX in jack, the DTX550K allows for the practicing drummer to jam to a wide range of styles and difficulties.  As a starter set, practice kit or live performance setup, the Yamaha DTX550K are high value electronic drums and are highly recommended.
