With over thirteen distinct drum set lines, Gretsch has one of the most wide-ranging drum lineups in the business. This includes the intro Renegade set all the way to the high end USA Custom. The Gretsch Renown series includes the Renown Maple, Renown ’57, Renown Purewood Hickory, Renown Purewood Wenge and Purewood Beech.

Configurations and Specifications

Gretsch Renown Maple shells feature 6ply shells with a 30 degree bearing edge, die-cast hoops and Evans batter heads. The Renown Maple series comes in three pre-configured shell packs. Two of the packs are f piece kits and include both 8×10 and 9×12 mounted toms and a 14×14 floor tom. The bass varies and can be ordered in 16×20 or 18×22. The Renown Maple four piece shell pack includes a 16×24 kick, 9×13 mounted tom and 16×16 floor tom. Other optional mounted toms include 8×7, 10×8, 12×8 and 13×10. A larger floor tom at 18×16 is also available along with 22×20 and 24×18 bass drums.

 

Gretsch Renown Maple Snares

The Gretsch Renown Maple Series features two different snares, a 10 lug 6.5 inch deep snare and an 8 lug 5in. Both snare sizes are made from 10plies of 100% maple and feature a 45 degree bearing edge. These snares are not sold with Renown Maple shell packs and must be bought separately.

The Renown Maple series is marketed by Gretsch as designed for the touring drummer. At a price tag of $1,400 to $1,600 for just the shell pack there is no doubt that this kit is priced for the drumming professional. With high quality shells that project a warm tone with superior punch, the Renown Maple drums are a great kit for rock music.
