Gretsch Renown Drums are made by The Gretsch Company a musical instrument manufacturer that primarily makes guitars and drums. Unlike other top drum brands, Gretsch does not make hardware and instead heavily promotes Gibraltar.

With over thirteen distinct drum set lines, Gretsch has one of the most wide-ranging drum lineups in the business. This includes the intro Renegade set all the way to the high end USA Custom. The Gretsch Renown series includes the Renown Maple, Renown ’57, Renown Purewood Hickory, Renown Purewood Wenge and Purewood Beech.

Purewood Hickory Configurations and Specifications

The Gretsch Renown Purewood Hickory is a limited edition series with only 35 pieces of each configuration made. Shell pack RP-R605-HCK is a five piece kit with a 16×20 bass, 7×10 and 8×12 mounted toms a 14×14 floor tom and a 5.5×14 snare. The RP-R826-HCK is a six piece drum set with an 18×22 kick, 7×10 and 8×12 mounted toms, 12×14 and 14×16 floor toms along with a 6×14 snare.

 

Gretsch Renown Purewood Hickory Review & Price

The Renown Purewood Hickory is a pro set that costs between $1,800 and $2,600. This is little doubt that because of the rarity of these kits, that they will become collectors drums in the future. The used market should hold value in the Purewood series. The Hickory wood shells provide for a unique sound that can respond and play well in a wide range of musical genres.

Purewood Wenge Configurations and Specifications

The Gretsch Purewood Wenge is only available in one configuration including am 18×22 bass, 7×10 and 8×12 mounted toms, 12×14 and 14×16 floor toms and a 10 lug 6×14 snare. Only 100 shell packs were made.
